Open Water Training Tips
Unlike swimming along a black line in pristine waters at a pool, swimming in the open water has its own unique demands that require skill practice too.
These skills can include but are not limited to:
Some of these skills can be done in a controlled pool setting, but some are best done in the open waters (if you have access). So the next time you are heading for an open water swim, rather than swimming plain yardage, it can be beneficial to structure your training to according to the demands of your next race/event, especially with areas that you need to work on.
